Minor girl allegedly raped, found dead in Bengal; Violent protests erupt
Arvind Kejriwal, arrested a day earlier in the Delhi liquor policy scam, has been sent to six-day custody by the ED until March 28. The ED accuses Kejriwal of being the "kingpin" of the scam, asserting that the money trail leads to the Goa election campaign in 2022, where the funds were purportedly used. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, contested the remand, questioning the necessity of custody.
The ED disclosed that Vijay Nair, allegedly a middleman in the case, had close ties to Kejriwal, residing near the CM's residence. Additionally, the ED sought a 10-day remand to uncover the full extent of the money trail, implicating AAP candidates who claimed to have received cash for contesting in Goa. Singhvi countered the ED's claims, arguing that most interrogated individuals did not implicate Kejriwal, and those who did were potentially influenced by incentives to turn approver.
