The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's bail plea challenging the interim stay imposed by the Delhi High Court in the Delhi excise policy case investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). A vacation bench comprising Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti deferred the matter to June 26. The bench expressed concern over the High Court's decision to grant an interim stay on Kejriwal's bail without issuing a final order, calling it "unusual."
The High Court had issued the interim stay on bail on June 21 while reserving its final order on the ED's plea to halt Kejriwal's release. This decision came a day after a trial judge had granted bail to Kejriwal in the money laundering case. The ED promptly moved the High Court seeking to stay the bail order, leading to the current legal proceedings.
