Ashish Chanchlani announces comeback with ‘Ekaki’ after India’s Got Latent backlash

Popular YouTuber and content creator Ashish Chanchlani is making a strong return with his latest project, following months of silence after being embroiled in the India’s Got Latent controversy. On Wednesday, Chanchlani unveiled the first look and details of his upcoming web series, Ekaki, which marks his official comeback and web series debut.

In a heartfelt announcement on Instagram, Chanchlani wrote, “We whole heartedly invite you for the chilliest trip of the year. Bas yaad rakhna... EKAKI mein reh kar bhi... aap kabhi akele nahi rahenge.” His caption was accompanied by posters showing him holding a lantern in the dark, surrounded by ghostly hands—hinting at a spooky horror-comedy blend.

Ekaki stars several familiar faces from the Indian digital space, including Akash Dodeja, Harshh Rane, Sidhant Sarfare, Rohit Sadhwani, Shashank Shekhar, and Grishim Nawanii. The project has been developed under Chanchlani’s home banner, ACV Studios, where he serves as actor, writer, director, and producer. The series will stream exclusively on the ACV Studios YouTube channel.

This announcement marks Chanchlani’s first creative outing since the backlash over an inappropriate joke made during his guest appearance on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent. The show sparked nationwide outrage when panelist Ranveer Allahbadia posed a controversial question involving parental intimacy. Though it was dismissed as humour by the hosts, FIRs and public criticism followed. Chanchlani was summoned by the Assam Police and also appeared before the National Commission for Women.

In March, Chanchlani broke his silence in an emotional Instagram video where he addressed his followers, saying, “Lad lenge situation se… isse bhi kuch naya seekh lenge.” The video struck a chord with his fans, many of whom had stood by him through the controversy.

With Ekaki, Chanchlani appears ready to put the past behind him and reintroduce himself through a bold, creative venture. While the official release date has yet to be announced, the buzz has already begun building among his loyal fanbase.
