A plot to assassinate Bollywood actor Salman Khan near his farmhouse in Panvel, Maharashtra, has been thwarted. Police have arrested four shooters linked to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. The gang had planned to stop Khan's car and shoot him with AK-47 rifles.
The arrested shooters are Dhananjay Tapsingh (alias Ajay Kashyap), Gaurav Bhatia (alias Nahvi), Waspi Khan (alias Wasim Chikna), and Rizwan Khan (alias Javed Khan). During a press conference, Navi Mumbai Circle DCP Vivek Pansare revealed that the men had conducted surveillance of Khan's farmhouse and his home in Bandra, where shots were fired in April by motorcycle-borne assailants.
Police have recovered videos from the suspects' phones showing instructions to attack Khan. Ajay Kashyap disclosed during questioning that he was in contact with an arms dealer in Pakistan to procure the necessary weapons. The police are investigating the involvement of more individuals and connections to international arms suppliers.
