Delhi minister Atishi raised allegations of a political conspiracy aimed at arresting Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, following the Enforcement Directorate's arrival at his residence with a search warrant in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Atishi criticized the swift action by the ED, asserting, "It is clear that the ED and their masters, the BJP, do not respect the courts." She further emphasized the perceived political motives behind the raid, labeling it as a manifestation of the ED's alignment with BJP interests.
The ED's presence at Kejriwal's residence comes after the Delhi High Court declined to grant him protection from coercive action in the excise policy case, prompting heavy police deployment outside the premises. Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj echoed Atishi's concerns, suggesting a potential raid on the CM's house and raising apprehensions about Kejriwal's imminent arrest. Meanwhile, Kejriwal has sought relief from the Supreme Court, with his legal team pushing for an urgent listing and hearing in the case, amidst ongoing legal battles surrounding allegations of corruption and money laundering related to the scrapped Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22.
