The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended a 31-year-old structural fabricator employed at Mazgaon Dockyard for allegedly divulging confidential information to Pakistani intelligence operatives (PIO). Identified as Kalpesh Baikar, the accused was ensnared in a honey trap orchestrated by the PIO, where he purportedly shared restricted data on sensitive areas. ATS has taken stringent action by invoking the Official Secrets Act, registering a case against Baikar and others identified in his contact list.
According to ATS sources, Baikar engaged in extensive conversations with a woman on social media over several months, eventually succumbing to her demands, thereby becoming a pawn in the alleged espionage operation. It is alleged that Baikar, employed in a location critical to national security, exchanged vital information with his social media acquaintance in return for monetary benefits, breaching protocols and posing a significant risk to the country's security.
