Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that his Facebook account faced a hacking attempt on Tuesday evening. The chief minister, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), shared the news and mentioned that initial investigations hint at the possibility of hackers operating from Pakistan.
Earlier on Monday, Sarma brought attention to a fake video circulating online that distorted his speech. The chief minister, while sharing the manipulated video on his X platform, raised concerns about the nefarious attempts to distort his speech to spread disinformation and communal disharmony.
Expressing his resolve to tackle such incidents, Sarma urged the public to witness how certain groups with criminal intentions manipulate content as elections approach. He assured that the law would catch up with those behind such acts, and stressed the commitment to maintaining order and preventing the spread of misinformation during the election season.
