HC refuses to order Sonam Wangchuk's discharge, says Govt intervention 'not arbitrary'
Addressing the '100 Years of Sangh Journey' event in Mumbai on Sunday, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat strongly advocated for conferring the Bharat Ratna on Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Bhagwat asserted that such a move would not only recognize Savarkar’s immense contributions but would also "increase the prestige" of India’s highest civilian honor.
He emphasized that Savarkar already resides in the hearts of millions, and official recognition would be an act of grace for the award itself. Bhagwat addressed the long-standing delay in this conferment, noting that while he is not a member of the selection committee, he intends to personally inquire about the reasons for the holdup if given the opportunity.
He described Savarkar as a figure whose "exceptional service" to the nation transcends formal titles, yet remains a vital piece of India’s historical and ideological recognition.
