In a recent case of cyber harassment, a woman residing in Baguiati filed a complaint regarding the creation of a fake Facebook profile that contained explicit photos of her. The victim reported that her phone number was also posted on this fake profile, leading to persistent harassment.
Acting on this complaint, the Bidhannagar cyber crime branch conducted an investigation and subsequently arrested a 45-year-old man named Debanjan Bose, who is employed as a class IV worker with South Eastern Railway.
The incident came to light in March of this year when the 42-year-old woman from Baguiati reported the harassment caused by the fake profile and explicit content. Through diligent efforts, the police were able to trace the IP address connected to the harassment to Debanjan.
Further investigation revealed that the accused railway employee was acquainted with the victim, having initially met her in 2016 through Facebook. Their connection deepened after the woman's divorce. Debanjan is married and has children. During a period when he stayed at the woman's residence in Baguiati, he took advantage of their proximity to capture explicit photographs of her.
