The internal factionalism within the Trinamool Congress has taken a concerning turn in Hooghly district, with an attack on the office of Balagarh MLA, Manoranjan Traders. This incident comes in the wake of escalating tensions within the party, and notably, the MLA had expressed concerns about a potential attack in a Facebook post just a day before the incident occurred.
On Wednesday night, vandalism unfolded at the MLA's office in Jeerat, with doors and windows broken, and party symbols torn and discarded. Blaming another faction within the Trinamool Congress for the sabotage, the MLA, in a Thursday morning Facebook post, stated that his fears had unfortunately materialized, pointing fingers at Runa Khatoon and her husband Arijit as the alleged assailants.
In a detailed account on social media, the MLA accused Runa Khatoon and her husband Arijit of orchestrating the attack with force, resulting in significant damage to the office premises. Doors and windows were shattered, and symbols representing the party, including a photograph of "Didi" (presumably Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee) and the party flag, were torn and discarded.
The MLA urged the people of Balagarh to reflect on the extent of connection these individuals have with the party leadership. As of now, there has been no response from other factions within the Trinamool Congress regarding the allegations and the incident.
