Balancing Act: Jaishankar urges UK vigilance against pro-khalistani extremism

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, concluding his five-day visit to the UK, raised India's concerns regarding pro-Khalistani extremism with top British leaders during various cross-party engagements. Jaishankar urged vigilance against the misuse of freedom of expression and speech, emphasizing the need for heightened awareness in the face of extremist activities. The minister, in meetings with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in strengthening the India-UK relationship and discussed crucial elements in addressing shared challenges.

During the visit, Jaishankar's discussions with UK Home Secretary James Cleverly and National Security Adviser Tim Barrow addressed India's concerns about pro-Khalistani extremism and its potential impact on the safety of Indian diplomats in the country.
