Kolkata police are investigating a report of a suspicious person seen outside the residence of Ward 68 councillor Sudarshana Mukherjee in the Ballygunge Place area. The incident has raised concerns, particularly as it comes on the heels of an attack on a Ward 108 councillor in Kasba.
The unidentified individual, described as being around 33 years old, was spotted on CCTV near the councillor’s house. According to the footage, he loitered outside and even ventured to the second floor of the residence. While his identity remains unclear, police are analyzing the CCTV footage to track him down.
Councillor Mukherjee has lodged a formal complaint with the Gariahat police station, citing concerns for her safety. Sources suggest that the person was carrying a concealed item. While the unclear footage makes it difficult to ascertain its nature, authorities are investigating whether it could have been a weapon or something else suspicious.
This isn’t the first time Mukherjee's residence has been targeted. Last year, her house was vandalized in a brazen burglary. Miscreants broke into the home, looted gold jewellery and cash, and even stole bathroom and kitchen taps, flooding the entire house.
