Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed that Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh's interim government, reached out to him with assurances of protection for Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh amid recent unrest.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi revealed that he had a productive conversation with Yunus regarding the current volatile situation in Bangladesh. Yunus pledged that his government would take all necessary steps to ensure the safety, security, and protection of Hindus and all minority groups living in Bangladesh.
This comes a day after PM Modi, in his Independence Day address, expressed concerns over the safety of Hindus in violence-hit Bangladesh, stating that the well-being of minorities in the neighboring country is a matter of concern for 140 crore Indians. The Indian Prime Minister reiterated India's support for a stable, democratic, and peaceful Bangladesh while urging a swift return to normalcy in the country.
