A Bangladeshi national was arrested by the Immigration Department at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Germany using an Indian passport. During routine immigration checks, officials found inconsistencies in the travel documents. While the man was carrying an Indian passport, records revealed that he had previously held a Bangladeshi passport. Further scrutiny showed that the two passports were issued under different names.
The suspect was immediately detained for questioning after officials noted the discrepancies in his identity documents. According to sources, the man was unable to provide satisfactory answers when asked about the dual passports and the variation in names. The immigration team formally arrested him and handed him over to the Airport police station for further investigation. He is scheduled to be produced in the Barrackpore court today.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine how the accused obtained an Indian passport despite having a prior Bangladeshi identity. They are also looking into the purpose of his planned travel to Germany and whether any assistance was received in fabricating documents. The incident has prompted authorities to examine the verification procedures followed during passport issuance and immigration clearance.
