Basirhat's Haroa turns into battlefiled as ISF-TMC supporters fight with rods and sticks, several injured

The Haroa assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas has plunged into a state of severe unrest just ahead of the second phase of the West Bengal assembly elections. Tensions escalated into a violent confrontation today when ISF MLA Nawsad Siddique arrived in the area to campaign for party candidate Piarul Islam. Reports indicate that a collision course was set when Siddique’s convoy approached a location where Trinamool Congress workers were holding a meeting, resulting in immediate verbal sparring and a physical clash between the two political factions.

The ISF has alleged that Nawsad Siddique was intentionally surrounded, pushed, and harassed by Trinamool-affiliated miscreants, creating a chaotic environment. As news of the incident spread, ISF supporters retaliated, leading to a clash involving bamboo sticks and rods that left several workers from both sides injured. The situation intensified further when angry ISF supporters initiated a road blockade on the Haroa-Berachapa route, causing prolonged traffic disruptions in the area.

In response to the escalating violence, a large contingent of police and central forces were deployed to bring the situation under control. Security personnel successfully relocated Nawsad Siddique to a safe area, and patrolling has been significantly increased in sensitive zones to prevent further outbreaks. While the ISF leadership has denounced the incident as a "planned attack" on their MLA, the Trinamool Congress has vehemently denied the claims, accusing Siddiqui of provoking the party workers during their meeting.
