A 68-year-old woman, Madhumita Mitra, was robbed of cash worth lakhs and jewelry at her residence in the Badtalla police station area. The incident took place on the second floor of her house at 326/A, Central Avenue, where unidentified miscreants allegedly climbed up and looted valuables while intimidating her. Reports indicate that Mitra had recently undergone surgery and was bedridden, making her unable to resist the robbery. The police have begun investigating the case and suspect that the accused may have been someone familiar with the victim.
Officials are analyzing CCTV footage and questioning neighbors and potential witnesses to trace the suspects. There were no signs of forced entry, leading to suspicions of an insider’s involvement. Authorities are also verifying whether the criminals had prior knowledge of the victim’s health condition and house layout.
