Belur Government Railway Police (GRP) has made an arrest in the case involving the brutal thrashing of a student who was protesting against molestation in Bally.
The victim has identified the main accused as 32-year-old Narayan Das, while another individual named Vikram Patra is also involved. Police sources report that the Belur GRP and Bally police conducted a joint operation and apprehended the accused from his residence late last night.
Two other suspects involved in the incident are currently absconding, and the police are actively searching for them.
The incident unfolded when two girl friends of Vishal, a second-year student at Pyari Mohan College in Hooghly, were harassed by a group of youths while heading to college yesterday. Following the college break, the accused individuals targeted Vishal and the two girls once again near the local halt station in Bally.
