Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has fulfilled her promise by approving an allocation of eight crores for the development of the rural hospital in Sandeshkhali. This fund will be used to improve the hospital’s infrastructure and increase the existing 30-bed capacity to 60 beds, ensuring better healthcare facilities for the local people.
The West Bengal government has sanctioned this amount and sent an official letter to Sandeshkhali MLA Sukumar Mahato. The MLA stated that the letter from the Chief Minister clearly mentions the expansion of the hospital and the improvement of medical facilities. He said, "Work will commence soon, and the people of the area will receive better healthcare services."
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had visited Sandeshkhali last December, where she observed the deteriorating condition of the hospital and announced its development. She had realized that the 30-bed facility was insufficient for the needs of the local patients. Now, within three months, this promise has been fulfilled.
Dr. Kaushik Mandal, in charge of Sandeshkhali Hospital, expressed his happiness over this announcement on Thursday, stating, "We are grateful to the Chief Minister. She has delivered on her promise. Administrative approval has also been received, and new doctors have been appointed at the hospital. This will enable us to provide even better medical services." This decision will benefit not only Sandeshkhali but also the remote areas of Hingalganj and the Sundarbans.
