Bengal BJP seeks monthly PM Modi rallies till Dec ahead of 2026 polls

Ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, the state BJP has proposed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi hold at least one public rally in the state every month until December. The proposal was placed during a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday. According to party sources, this move is part of a broader strategy to intensify the campaign in the run-up to the polls.

The campaign is expected to start this month with a rally in Dum Dum, located in North 24 Parganas district. The tentative date for this rally is August 20, but it awaits final clearance from the Prime Minister’s Office. Party leaders have indicated that locations for the rallies will be selected to ensure coverage of both North and South Bengal. Venues situated at junctions of multiple districts are being considered to maximise outreach.

In addition to monthly rallies, the BJP is planning a major central rally in January 2026 at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend this event, which will be held closer to the elections. The state BJP leadership has been discussing logistical and organisational preparations for this large-scale public meeting.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Modi held two rallies in West Bengal. The first was in Alipurduar in May, and the second took place in Durgapur, West Bardhaman district. During both events, he addressed various regional issues and party concerns. These were part of the BJP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence across the state ahead of the assembly polls.
