In the ongoing seat-sharing discussions within the INDIA Alliance, West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has submitted a list of his party's desired Lok Sabha seats to Rahul Gandhi. The formal letter outlines Congress's claim on six seats, including Malda-North, Malda-South, Baharampur, Jangipur, Raiganj, and Basirhat, and is scheduled to be delivered to Mallikarjun Kharge.
As per reports, TMC has offered only two seats, Berhampore and Malda South, to Congress, leading to a disagreement between the two parties over the allocation of seats.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a statement, asserting, "Only TMC can teach the BJP a lesson in West Bengal and set a model for others across the country. No other party can do it." Banerjee expressed these sentiments while addressing party workers in North 24 Parganas during the kick-off of the Lok Sabha polls campaign.
