The Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2025 kicks off at the World Bengal Convention Centre in Kolkata, featuring top industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Sajjan Jindal. The two-day event hosts 5,000 delegates from 40 countries, including 20 partner nations, to discuss key areas like green energy, technology, and infrastructure. Diplomatic representatives from these countries have already arrived, highlighting the summit's global significance. BGBS 2025 aims to drive investment, foster international collaborations, and enhance West Bengal’s position as a major business hub.

Hemant Soren, Chief Minister of Jharkhand, expressed gratitude to Mamata Banerjee for the invitation and highlighted the similarities between Jharkhand and Bengal. He emphasized Jharkhand's significant role in the country’s economy due to its mineral resources and textile industry. He urged industrialists to invest in Jharkhand and mentioned the state's potential for further development, especially in sectors like uranium. Soren also mentioned the need for Didi’s support in advancing Jharkhand’s growth and investment efforts.
Sourav Ganguly, former cricketer said that in Bengal, medium-sized industries are highly encouraged. Under the leadership of Mamata Didi, the cities of Bengal are ahead compared to other cities. Major industrial houses from across the country are investing here. Everyone receives strong support from the state government.

Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and MD of JSW Group said that "I come to BGBS every year and closely observe the development here. Bengal is seen as one of the country’s prime investment destinations. We have a strong relationship with Bengal. There are no labor issues here anymore. We have promised long-term investments in Bengal. JSW will invest Rs 16,000 crore in Salboni, specifically in the power sector."
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries, expressed his happiness to be part of the 8th BGBS. He praised Bengal for producing great personalities in religion and art, noting that while Western states were once seen as economic leaders, this perception is changing. He highlighted that the conference grows bigger every year and under Mamata Didi's leadership, Bengal has become a business hub.
Ambani also shared that in the last 10 years, Reliance has invested Rs 50,000 crore in Bengal. Jio has set a record for the highest internet data usage in Kolkata, and he thanked the people for this. He further announced that Reliance will open an AI data center in Kolkata in the next 9 months. Ambani concluded by stating that Reliance's investment in Bengal is not only commercial but also emotional, affirming, "Your Bengal is Our Bengal."
CM Mamata Banerjee said that BGBS has gathered a remarkable group of industry leaders and took pride in Mukesh Ambani's promise that Jio will make the largest investment in Kolkata. She acknowledged his affection for Gujarat and Maharashtra but was delighted to hear how much he loves Bengal.
Mamata Banerjee expressed pride in having ambassadors from 25 countries and 200 foreign delegates present, emphasizing that Bengal never forgets its partners and hopes they won't forget Bengal. She highlighted that Bengal is the gateway to Southeast Asia and a future investment hub. Additionally, she mentioned that the state had initiated the business committee, which others are now following, and clarified that she would not provide investment clarifications to political figures.
CM Mamata announced the formation of the One-Stop Clearing Mega Project Synergy Committee, with the Chief Secretary as the chairman. She also revealed that mining will begin at Devcha Pachami, ensuring no electricity shortage for the next 100 years. Several foreign companies are ready to take on the project, and the tender process will commence tomorrow.
