The West Bengal government on Saturday appointed IAS officer Shantanu Bala as the Private Secretary to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The appointment was announced through an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms from Nabanna in Howrah.
According to the notification, Shantanu Bala, a 2017-batch IAS officer currently serving as the Additional District Magistrate of South 24 Parganas district, will assume the role with immediate effect until further orders. The order stated that the appointment was being made in the interest of public service.
The notification was issued under the authority of the Governor and signed by Additional Chief Secretary Rajesh Pandey. The appointment comes shortly after Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the new Chief Minister of West Bengal following the formation of the BJP government in the state.
