Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
The West Bengal government has announced a significant financial boost for its civic volunteer forces by increasing the ad-hoc bonus for the 2025-26 financial year. According to a notification from Nabanna, the bonus for Civic Volunteers has been raised to ₹7,400, a direct increase of ₹600 over the previous year’s ₹6,800.
This decision will benefit thousands of personnel serving across the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police departments, as well as Village Police Volunteers who play a crucial role in rural law enforcement. The state administration has formally communicated this new bonus structure to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Kolkata.
This move is part of a consistent upward trend in the financial support provided to these volunteers: the bonus has risen steadily from ₹5,300 in earlier years to ₹6,000 in 2024, then to ₹6,800, and now to nearly ₹ 7,500. Government sources indicate that while the decision was finalized some time ago, the official notification was released today following the formal approval of the new structure.
