Mamata Banerjee, Omar Abdullah to hold high-stakes meet at Nabanna on July 10
West Bengal observed ‘Safe Drive, Save Life Day’ on Tuesday, an initiative aimed at spreading public awareness about road safety. The state government marks this day annually to promote responsible driving and reduce road accidents through education and enforcement measures.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Today we observe ‘Safe Drive, Save Life’ Day, an initiative launched to raise awareness about road safety, promote responsible driving habits, and ensure safer roads for all.” In the same post, she added, “Let’s pledge to drive responsibly, follow traffic rules, and keep our roads safe for all. FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT!”
The 'Safe Drive, Save Life' campaign was launched by the West Bengal government in 2016. Since then, it has involved awareness drives, safety training programs, and implementation of traffic regulations across the state. Government departments, civic authorities, schools, and driver unions participate in the campaign every year.
