West Bengal BJP President, Dilip Ghosh, expressed concern over the security situation in the state on Wednesday. While taking a morning walk at Eco Park in Newtown, he criticized the police for failing to ensure the security of the ruling party's program, questioning how they could ensure the safety of common people.
Ghosh cited Tuesday's incident of assault and breaking of ballot boxes at Abhishek Banerjee's Kochbihar program and claimed that the police could not handle any situation anywhere. He further expressed doubts about the police's ability to provide security for the upcoming Panchayat elections, stating that they were unable to provide security for Trinamool leaders' programs.
Ghosh went on to say that given the current state of affairs, the security of political programs in the state would have to be handed over to the central forces. He concluded by stating that the people of Bengal were no longer safe, and there was no security left for their lives.
The comments come amidst rising concerns over security in the state ahead of the upcoming Panchayat elections.
