Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The West Bengal Police carried out another administrative reshuffle on Wednesday, transferring the Inspector-in-Charge of Nandigram police station and reassigning an inspector from the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate. According to an official notification, the officers have been directed to assume their new responsibilities from 9 am on Thursday.
Shubhabrata Nath, who had been serving as the Inspector-in-Charge of Nandigram police station, has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, CID West Bengal, where he will serve as an inspector. The transfer order was issued through a notification signed by the Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order.
Ajay Kumar Mishra has been appointed as the new Inspector-in-Charge of Nandigram police station. Before the transfer, he was posted as an inspector under the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate. The reshuffle involved direct reassignment between district policing and the state investigation wing.
Copies of the transfer notification were sent to the Commissioner of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, the Superintendent of Police of Purba Medinipur district, and the Additional Director General of CID West Bengal. The official notification did not mention any specific reason behind the administrative changes.
The reshuffle has drawn attention because of the political significance of Nandigram in West Bengal politics. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari had contested and won from both Nandigram and Bhabanipur in the recent Assembly elections. He later retained the Bhabanipur seat while vacating Nandigram, although he has repeatedly stated that he would continue to look after the constituency “as its representative in spirit.”
