Bengal records 40°C+ in many districts

As Kolkata gears up to celebrate Poila Baishakh, the city grapples with a significant rise in temperature, surging by approximately 3 degrees Celsius. The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecasted rain in North Bengal but predicts no respite for Kolkata and South Bengal, intensifying the prevailing heat wave. Since Sunday, the state has witnessed a gradual increase in temperature, with Kolkata registering a maximum temperature of around 38 degrees Celsius, expected to climb further on Monday. While South Bengal remains dry, North Bengal anticipates rainfall.

With summer setting in early across Bengal, several districts have already recorded temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius. Although temporary rain provided relief, the respite was short-lived, with temperatures once again on the rise. The absence of rainfall in Kolkata and South Bengal exacerbates concerns of escalating heat, prompting residents to brace for sweltering conditions.
