Bengal rolls out single-window clearance, CM assures smooth investments, no union disruptions | Watch

The West Bengal government has introduced a single-window clearance system to simplify industrial approvals and ensure faster processing of investment proposals. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in a high-level review meeting today, assured business leaders that all industrial approvals, including land allotment, environmental clearances, and licenses, will be available through a centralized business portal. The new system aims to eliminate delays and improve ease of doing business in the state.

During the meeting, Banerjee emphasized that industrialists should not pay any extra money beyond official charges. “No one should demand money, and no one should pay,” she said, instructing officials to ensure a transparent and efficient clearance process. She also directed all departments to process pending proposals within one month and take strict action against any unnecessary delays.

The Chief Minister also warned against disruptions by trade unions, stating that industrial operations must not be hindered by arbitrary actions. She urged trade unions to cooperate with businesses and emphasized that the government will take strict measures if any industrial project faces unnecessary hurdles. “No trade union should create obstacles for personal benefits,” she stated.

As part of Bengal’s industrial expansion plan, six new economic corridors are being developed to improve infrastructure and attract large-scale investments. Banerjee highlighted that industrial land will not be left unused or encroached upon. She directed officials to conduct a detailed review within three days and submit a report on unused and encroached land within seven days.

The review meeting also focused on land settlement issues, with Banerjee instructing WBIDC and HIDCO to expedite the approval of pending land proposals. She directed officials to resolve the Kolkata Leather Complex land issue within 15 days and ensure that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) receive proper land allotments under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The government aims to position West Bengal as a leading investment destination, with a focus on large industries creating thousands of jobs and small industries generating lakhs of employment opportunities. The real-time tracking system for industrial proposals will monitor approvals and ensure timely implementation of projects, reinforcing Bengal’s commitment to a business-friendly environment.
