Bengal's temperature dips below normal, weather remains like this for the next 7 days

West Bengal is experiencing a delightful winter chill these days, with temperatures staying comfortably low across the state. In Kolkata, the minimum temperature hovered around 15 degrees Celsius, which is slightly below normal, making mornings chilly nowadays. Western districts like Bankura, Bardhaman and Birbhum dips to 11 degrees, while hill areas in Darjeeling dropped to as low as 4-6 degrees. North Bengal districts such as Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar also felt the cold with readings around 10-11 degrees.

Northerly winds are bringing that perfect winter feel, and people are pulling out their warm clothes to enjoy the season without extreme harshness. According to IMD weather office, this cool pattern will continue for the next seven days with no big changes expected in minimum temperatures. There is no chance of rain anywhere in the state, keeping skies mostly clear after morning fog clears up. A cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and western disturbances in the north are influencing the winds, but they won't disrupt the dry, chilly weather. A new western disturbance might arrive soon, but it won't cause much change across Bengal.

Intense winter cold is not expected yet, so the mild chill is ideal for citiens. Morning fog is likely in parts of North and South Bengal, especially in districts like Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, and coastal areas, where visibility could drop to 200-999 meters. This adds a misty charm to early hours but clears by midday. Overall, the state enjoys stable winter weather with temperatures below normal in many places, promising a cozy season ahead without any major drops or rain to worry about.

Today, the minimum temperature in Kolkata is 15.2 degrees celsius which is 1.4 degrees below normal. Additionally, the temperatures in several districts of South Bengal are below normal. The mercury dropped to 11.5 degrees celsius in Kalyani, 11 degrees celsius in Burdwan, 10.4 degrees celsius in Sriniketan and 11 degrees Celsius in Bankura. The minimum temperature in the northern districts also fell below normal, 6.4 degrees celsius in Darjeeling, 11.6 degrees in Jalpaiguri, 10 degrees celsius in both Alipurduar and Kalimpong and 10.1 degrees celsius in Coochbehar.
