Bengal SIR: 22 lakh names put online, 28 lakh still under review

In a major development in the ongoing voter list revision process in West Bengal, approximately 22 lakh under-review voter names have been uploaded on the official website so far. The first supplementary list, released earlier, included around 10 lakh names, while the second supplementary list published recently added another 12 lakh, taking the total to over 22 lakh entries now available for public scrutiny.

According to Election Commission sources, around 34% of these names fall under the deletion category. So far, documents of nearly 37 lakh under-review voters have been examined, with approximately 32 lakh cases already processed. However, a significant number—about 28 lakh cases—are still pending review, indicating that the revision exercise is ongoing and far from complete.
