Bengal SSC Scam: CBI arrests six accused in ongoing school jobs scam investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation or CBI has today, February 17, 2023, arrested six accused (private individuals). They were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the cases that were registered on charges of illegal recruitment of Group-D, Group-C and Assistant Teacher for Class IX-X and XI-XII (SSC Scam) in West Bengal.

It is alleged that the accused, who were arrested, were part of a network of collecting money from various candidates and facilitating employment to undeserving and unlisted candidates in various schools across West Bengal. Bhavtosh Singh states that the arrested accused are to be produced before the competent court today, 17th February 2023. According to media query related to Update dated 17.02.2023 regarding the arrest of six accused in the ongoing investigation of cases related to illegal recruitment of Group-D, Group-C and Assistant Teacher for Class IX-X and XI-XII (SSC Scam) in West Bengal.

The Calcutta High Court on February 10 ordered the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education to cancel the posts of 1,911 Group D' employees who were appointed to government-sponsored and aided schools illegally, following the manipulation of recruitment exam results. The court ordered the School Service Commission (SSC) to immediately initiate steps to fill the posts.
