No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal arrested a Bihar-based arms smuggler during a raid at Andal railway station on Thursday morning. The accused has been identified as Ashraful Ansari, also known as Chana, who hails from Bihar. Officials seized 10 illegal single-shot pipe guns from his possession at the time of arrest.
Police sources stated that Ansari had reached Andal to sell the seized firearms. A case has been registered at Andal Government Railway Police (GRP) station, and the weapons have been taken into custody. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Ansari is actively involved in the trade of illegal firearms and had arrived to deliver the consignment in exchange for money.
The STF and GRP are questioning the accused to find out the identities of the intended recipients and to gather details about the group linked to the supply. Authorities said that further investigation is underway to trace the routes used for trafficking and to identify other individuals connected to the case.
