Bengal transfers 179 IPS officers in major police reshuffle; 12 district SPs reassigned

The West Bengal government has ordered the transfer of 179 IPS officers in a major restructuring of the state's police administration. As part of the exercise, 12 district Superintendents of Police have been reassigned, including the Superintendent of Police of Diamond Harbour. The transfers constitute one of the largest administrative reshuffles in the police force in recent years and were announced following the formation of the new government.

The reshuffle affects several district police administrations across the state. Districts covered under the transfer orders include Purba Bardhaman, Krishnanagar, Jalpaiguri, Barasat, Diamond Harbour, Dakshin Dinajpur, Baruipur, Birbhum, Bankura, Purulia, and the rural police districts of Howrah and Hooghly. Multiple senior officers serving in these districts have been assigned new postings under the transfer notification issued by the government.

The changes also extend to Kolkata Police, where several officers have been transferred as part of the statewide administrative exercise. The government has issued the transfer orders covering officers serving in both district police units and the Kolkata Police force.
