In a disturbing incident that came to light on January 30, a woman from Darjeeling, West Bengal, was subjected to sexual assault and physical abuse in south Delhi. The victim, lured under the pretext of a job and marriage by the accused Paras from Uttarakhand, suffered over 20 burn injuries when he allegedly poured boiling dal on her. The incident unfolded when a PCR call reported a man beating his wife, leading the Neb Sarai police to rescue the victim from a locked room.
The survivor revealed that she had been in contact with Paras for the past 3-4 months, and after promising her a job in Delhi, he insisted she stay with him. However, the situation escalated when she resisted pressure to marry and failed to secure the promised job.
Paras allegedly assaulted her physically and sexually over the course of a week, culminating in the horrifying act of pouring hot dal on her. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC, and the victim is undergoing treatment at AIIMS hospital.
