No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A 27-year-old employee of HDFC Bank was killed after being struck by a speeding motorcycle in Bengaluru. The incident occurred around midday on Dr Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar when the woman, identified as Yogeshwari, was crossing the busy street during her lunch break.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, Yogeshwari had stepped out with a colleague to fetch food from a nearby eatery. While returning to her office, she attempted to cross the road but was hit by a speeding Bullet motorcycle driven by a 21-year-old rider named Deepan. The force of the collision threw her onto the asphalt, leaving her critically injured. Bystanders and coworkers rushed Yogeshwari to a nearby private hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries later that night despite intensive medical treatment. The biker was also injured in the crash and is receiving treatment. Traffic police have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the rider and are continuing their investigation.
The tragic incident has sparked renewed calls from residents and commuters for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and safer pedestrian crossings, especially on busy city roads like Dr Rajkumar Road, where high vehicular speeds pose a danger to pedestrians.
