The Congress party has initiated a 'Donate for Nyay' crowdfunding campaign in preparation for the upcoming Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra set to commence next week, as announced by AICC treasurer and party publicity committee convener Ajay Maken on Saturday. The campaign aims to garner support from a wide range of workers, with a focus on small donors, presenting an indirect contrast to the party's claims about the Bharatiya Janata Party's association with big industrialists and businessmen.
Maken revealed the introduction of a QR code and the creation of a dedicated website, donateinc.in, for convenient online donations. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed the campaign's broader objectives, stating, "The war has started for all the five pillars of justice — justice for youth, partnership, women, farmers, and laborers."
The Congress party's crowdfunding initiative involves offering incentives for donations, with those contributing ₹67,000 or more receiving a 'Nyay Kit.' The kit includes a T-shirt, bag, band, badge, and sticker. A unique feature of the campaign is that each donor, irrespective of the amount, will receive a letter signed by Rahul Gandhi and a certificate of donation. Ajay Maken clarified that the crowdfunding is not intended as the primary source of election funding but rather as a motivational tool for party workers.
Maken emphasized the importance of encouraging participation, stating, "The idea is not to get money. The idea is to motivate the workers. Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will be going through one part of the country. The rest of the party workers in other parts will be able to participate by giving ₹67."
