Bhuvneshwar Kumar becomes IPL's second-highest wicket-taker, surpasses Piyush Chawla

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, a name synonymous with precision and mastery in Indian T20 cricket, added another illustrious milestone to his career. During the IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the 35-year-old pacer delivered a stunning spell of 3 for 33, propelling himself to second place on the list of all-time highest wicket-takers in IPL history.

Starting his IPL journey with Pune Warriors in 2011, Bhuvneshwar has amassed a staggering 193 wickets across his storied career. His tally includes 157 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he also won the Purple Cap twice, 24 for Pune Warriors, and now 12 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. His consistency and longevity have made him one of the most respected bowlers in the tournament's history.

In surpassing Piyush Chawla’s record of 192 wickets, Bhuvneshwar now stands just behind Yuzvendra Chahal, who leads the charts with 214 wickets. Moreover, Bhuvneshwar recently equaled Jasprit Bumrah’s record for the most number of clean-bowled dismissals in IPL, further cementing his status as one of the finest craftsmen with the ball.

Against Delhi Capitals, Bhuvneshwar's brilliance was once again on display as he kept the batters in check, delivering timely strikes to restrict the opponents to a manageable total of 162 runs. His control and experience shone through, as he maintained pressure throughout his spell.

Currently with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Bhuvneshwar’s presence has added immense depth to their bowling attack. As the tournament progresses, RCB will be banking on their veteran spearhead to continue leading from the front and help them in their playoff push.
