In a recent development, the Bidhan Nagar North Police Station has arrested a person on charges of cheating in the name of providing jobs in banks. The accused, Bijan Dey, was arrested from his home in Ranaghat on Sunday night in Krishnanagar.
According to the police, Bijan Dey collected data from job seekers through online sources and contacted them through phone calls, promising them jobs in banks. He managed to extort lakhs of rupees from these unsuspecting job aspirants but failed to provide any job.
The police launched an investigation into the matter to determine the extent of the scam and how many people were affected by it. The arrest of Bijan Dey is expected to shed light on the modus operandi of the scam and help identify the victims.
