Bidhannagar Police arrest prime accused in ₹8.75 lakh fraud case from Medinipur

A complaint filed by Bhaskar Dev at Bidhannagar North Police Station alleged that four employees of his organization misappropriated ₹8,75,827 from sales revenue between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. Based on the complaint, police registered FIR No. 59/25 on June 2, 2025, under Sections 316(4), 318(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

The investigation led to the arrest of Golak Maity, identified as the main accused in the case. He is a resident of Salika village under Tamluk Police Station in East Medinipur. Acting on source inputs, police arrested him on July 12. Authorities stated that Maity was employed with the complainant’s firm during the alleged period of the financial misappropriation.

Police confirmed this is the first arrest in the case. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the three other employees named in the complaint. Investigators are also reviewing relevant financial records to trace the misappropriated amount and gather further evidence.
