A fresh poster war erupted in Bidhannagar as BJP and Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched counter-campaigns targeting each other. BJP first put up posters with the slogan “Hindu Hindu Bhai Bhai” across multiple locations, including Karunamoyee and Bikash Bhawan. The posters called for unity among Hindus, sparking sharp reactions from the ruling TMC, which accused BJP of attempting to polarize voters.
In response, TMC’s IT cell launched its own poster campaign, shifting the focus to economic issues. Posters questioned rising fuel and gas prices under the BJP-led central government, stating, “Hindu Hindu Bhai Bhai, Tabu Teler Daam Lota Chai” (You say Hindus are brothers, yet oil prices are looted). Other posters raised concerns over the linking of Aadhaar with various services and the lack of a full-fledged Union minister from Bengal. TMC alleged that BJP was diverting attention from governance failures by using religious sentiments.
Following TMC’s counterattack, BJP intensified its campaign by putting up more posters demanding security for Hindus. Messages included “Hindu Hindu Bhai Bhai, Ram Navami Par Ekjut Raho” (Hindus should unite on Ram Navami) and “Hindu Hindu Bhai Bhai, Police Suraksha Chahiye” (Hindus need police protection). BJP leaders defended their campaign, stating that their posters reflected public concerns over law and order and religious festival security.
