Fire breaks out at Gupta Brothers restaurant in Park Street

A sudden fire broke out at the Gupta Brothers restaurant located in Queen's Mansion building on Kolkata’s bustling Park Street on Friday noon, triggering panic in the area. The popular eatery, situated directly opposite the Park Hotel, became the center of attention as thick smoke and flames erupted from the premises.

Eyewitnesses reported that smoke was seen billowing from the front entrance of the restaurant around noon. Within minutes, flames were spotted roaring from the back side of the building, causing alarm among locals, commuters, and business establishments nearby.

As soon as the fire was reported, fire brigade teams rushed to the location. Multiple fire engines were deployed, and the firefighters quickly began operations to douse the flames. Their prompt response prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings in this high-traffic commercial zone.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and officials have yet to confirm whether it originated from the kitchen, an electrical short-circuit, or another source. Investigations are underway to determine the root cause. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injury or loss of life so far.

Traffic in the area has been affected. Police cordoned off the zone around the restaurant to allow fire personnel to work efficiently. As a result, vehicular movement along Park Street slowed down considerably, causing delays and diversions in nearby areas.
