Huge amount of cash has been recovered in Kolkata for two consecutive days. 1.4 crore cash was seized from Gariahat after Ballygunge on Wednesday. About one crore rupees have been seized from a car on the second day. Two drivers named Dulal Roy and Mukesh Saraswat have been arrested in this incident.
Both of them were produced in the Alipore Court on Monday, where the court granted bail on a personal bond of 2000. On the other hand, the car from which the mountain of notes was found in Gariahat is owned by Nishit Rai. He has been taken into custody. Businessman Nishit Rai's house is in Bangur Avenue. He owns at least 25 shell companies. Now the intelligence officers are probing those shell companies.
Nishit Rai's office is in a shopping mall near Gariahat. Nishit also has a share trading business. Officials suspect that hawala business was going on behind the scenes of these shell companies. Police suspect that money is being transferred from one company to another and hawala business is going on behind it. Detectives believe that hawala money was being given at the same time cash was recovered during the raid.
Detectives suspect that the money was transferred from a businessman in Salt Lake to Nishit's office and was on its way to Barabazar. Nishit is being interrogated on the basis of the same clue. The authorities feel that Nishit may have vital information about the source of this money and where it was going. On questioning the driver of the car, Dulal Mandal, it was found that the money was brought from the same shopping mall. On the same basis, Mukesh Saraswat who came from the shopping mall was arrested. Mukesh was coming in that car.
Dulal has been driving that car for one and a half years. His house is in Shanti Colony Belgachia. His father Ramesh drives a rickshaw. On searching about Nishit's company, it was found that it is a sign board company. Nishit's office is on the fourth floor of that shopping mall. Two other businessmen are under watch along with Nishit. Three businessmen including Nishit are associated with at least 50 shell companies. Some of these companies are also involved in the construction business.
