Bihar's wanted land mafia arrested from Tangra

In a major breakthrough, Bihar’s dreaded land mafia Naushad Malik was finally arrested from a residential flat in Kolkata’s Tangra area. A joint team of Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Kolkata Police swooped down on the luxury residential building after getting solid information that the criminal was hiding there. Naushad, a resident of Phulwari Sharif in Patna, had been on the run for long after several serious cases, including murder, land grabbing and extortion, were filed against him in Bihar.

The gangster surfaced into the police radar again on 22 June 2024 when he openly fired in Patna's Bajrangbali Colony area. Naushad is also accused in the daylight murder of Anwar Alam near Sharia Housing in Patna. After the firing incident, Naushad vanished from Bihar and took shelter in a flat he owned in Kolkata's Tangra area.

As per reports, after the crime, Naushad hid in Kolkata or Goa to avoid the police but this time, tip-offs about his exact location helped the Bihar STF track him down quickly and the joint operation between Kolkata Police and Bihar STF arrests the wanted criminal..Naushad will be taken to Patna on transit remand to face multiple pending cases. Locals in Tangra shocked to learn that such a high-profile criminal was living quietly amongst them. The successful operation has once again shown how criminals from other states sometimes try to hide in Kolkata, but joint efforts of police forces can bring them to justice.
