Another KMC councillor, Biswajit Mondal arrested, after woman alleges molestation and threats
Serious allegations have emerged from Tarapith after a family of Bihari devotees were brutally assaulted over claims of stealing a ring worth just 20 rupees. Witnesses allege that the shopkeepers involved used sticks and iron pipes, attacking both male devotees and women. One of the injured reportedly suffered a head fracture at the spot.
According to accounts, Anand Kumar Shah from the Katihar district of Bihar had visited Tarapith with his family. While returning after offering puja, he attempted to purchase a 20-rupee ring for his son from a local shop. The shopkeeper accused him of stealing the ring, triggering a heated argument.
As tensions escalated, the shopkeeper and his associates allegedly launched a violent attack on the devotees. Women in the group were also reportedly beaten. Another devotee present at the scene captured the entire incident on his mobile camera, further intensifying the outrage.
