A fatal road accident in Salt Lake’s Sector 3 triggered chaos on Wednesday, after a car and a bike collided violently on Kestopur Bridge. The impact caused the bike to burst into flames, killing the rider on the spot, according to preliminary police reports.
Police rushed to the scene soon after the incident, followed by the fire brigade to extinguish the blaze. However, as the firefighting team began operations, some locals started pelting stones, escalating tensions in the area.
Authorities are yet to release the identity of the deceased. Police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the collision and the subsequent violence. Additional forces were deployed to bring the situation under control and prevent further unrest.
The incident has raised concerns about reckless driving on busy bridges in the city and the challenges faced by emergency responders during tense situations.
