Noapara police arrested Sabir Ali, also known as Dutt, who has been identified as the leader of a bike theft gang. The arrest followed repeated incidents of motorcycle and scooter thefts reported in the Noapara police station area over the past several months. Police had registered multiple cases related to these thefts and launched an investigation to trace the culprits.
During interrogation, Sabir Ali provided leads that enabled police to recover two stolen motorcycles. Officials said the vehicles were traced following the accused’s disclosure. Investigators suspect the involvement of more gang members and are working on identifying other stolen vehicles connected to the cases.
The accused was presented before the Barrackpore sub-divisional court on Saturday. Noapara police sought five days of custody for Sabir Ali to continue the investigation and pursue further recoveries. The court’s decision on police custody is awaited.
