Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Tension erupted in West Bengal’s Bagda Assembly constituency amid ongoing election campaigning after a motorcycle collided with the vehicle of BJP candidate Soma Thakur, triggering a political controversy between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress. The incident occurred near Aramdanga Kali Temple under Bangaon police station limits and has raised questions about security during campaigning.
As per reports, the BJP candidate had gone to offer prayers at the temple when a speeding motorcycle struck the rear of her parked convoy vehicle. The impact damaged the rear windshield completely, while the motorcyclist also sustained injuries in the collision. The situation quickly escalated on the ground after BJP workers noticed that the rider was wearing a TMC-branded T-shirt.
Local police reached the spot promptly and brought the situation under control. The damaged motorcycle was seized, and the injured rider was taken into custody for questioning. During preliminary interrogation, the rider claimed to be a resident of Jharkhand and said he worked at a brick kiln, denying any political motive behind the incident.
Soma Thakur, however, alleged that the incident was a deliberate attempt to intimidate her during campaigning and called it a “life-threatening conspiracy.” She stated that her driver narrowly escaped injury and questioned the presence of political branding on the rider’s clothing. On the other hand, the accused maintained that the crash was accidental and not connected to any political activity.
