Violent clash breaks out between BJP and Congress workers at Kolkata's Entally area near Congress Bhawan. The BJP supporters take out a protest rally from the Ramlila ground in protest of the scuffle that took place at the Parliament today amid the Ambedkar row.
Police raised heavy barricading around the Congress party office. Agitated BJP workers broke the barricade and tried to gherao the Congress party office. Amid the scuffle, stones were peleted which injured a cop. As per latest reports, the cop suffered critical injury on his head and has been admitted to the hospital.
Earlier in the day, tensions escalated in Parliament during a heated debate over issues related to the Ambedkar row. BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of pushing an MP, which led to a scuffle in the Parliament complex. Sarangi, who sustained minor injuries during the incident, alleged that Gandhi's actions caused him to fall when another MP was pushed into him. In response, Rahul Gandhi denied the allegations, claiming that BJP MPs were obstructing his attempt to enter Parliament and were threatening him. The altercation, involving Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge as well, further fueled the protests.
