BJP defends Amit Shah's Nehru remarks; Cites Sardar Patel's legacy in princely states handling

BJP responded to Rahul Gandhi's criticism of Amit Shah's comments on Jawaharlal Nehru, invoking the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Ravi Shankar Prasad, a prominent BJP leader, asserted that states handled by Patel faced no issues, contrasting them with the challenges in the one state, Jammu and Kashmir, under Nehru's leadership.

Prasad argued that the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 addressed longstanding problems, emphasizing Shah's remarks as a reflection of historical reality.Ravi Shankar Prasad highlighted the temporary nature of Article 370, stating that Congress members were initially against it.

He defended Shah's historical assertions, pointing out that the 550 princely states managed by Sardar Patel did not encounter issues, while the problems in Jammu and Kashmir persisted. BJP leaders criticized Rahul Gandhi for allegedly lacking historical knowledge and accused him of diverting attention from crucial issues.

In response, Gandhi asserted that Amit Shah had a habit of rewriting history and accused the BJP of using Nehru's name to distract from pressing matters. The ongoing exchange reveals deep-seated political differences, with historical narratives becoming a battleground for the BJP and Congress.
