The BJP has called for re-polling at several booths in the Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha seat, alleging rigging during the polling process on Saturday. In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Bengal, BJP leader Shishir Bajoria claimed that BJP booth agents were expelled, CCTV cameras were improperly positioned, and voters were obstructed from reaching polling stations. The BJP's request for re-polling covers booths in Badge Badge, Falta, Maheshtala, Diamond Harbor, Bishnupur, Satgachia, and Metiabruz assembly constituencies, aiming to ensure a fair election process for BJP candidate Abhijit Das.
The allegations come as TMC's sitting MP Abhishek Banerjee is contesting for re-election from Diamond Harbor. During the seventh and final phase of the election on Saturday, nine Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal saw a voter turnout of 73.79 percent. The BJP's demand for re-polling reflects ongoing concerns about the integrity of the electoral process in this contentious constituency.
